Dr. Khaled J. Saleh is the Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director for Clinical and Translational Research at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic conditions, and is internationally renowned for cutting-edge surgery relating to adult reconstruction and joint replacement.〔 Dr. Saleh is considered one of the leading experts on Health Services Research on Musculoskeletal Medicine and his work has been supported by nearly $7 million in grant funding, resulting in over 200 scientific publications. ==Biography== Saleh was born on Sept 24th, 1964, in Kuwait to Fathiya and Jamal Saleh. The Egyptian derivation of his surname comes from his paternal great-great-great-great-grandfather, who emigrated from Egypt. The family eventually settled in Kuwait after being evacuated in 1948 from their town Salameh, located just outside of Tel Aviv, Israel during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. In 1966 Saleh emigrated with a number of family members to Canada, where the family eventually settled in Belleville, Ontario where Saleh completed his middle and high school education. Excelling in Math and Science, Saleh went on to attend the University of Western Ontario on an academic scholarship . During that time he met his wife Lena, whom he married in 1984. The couple currently resides in Springfield, Illinois and has three children.〔
